Which airport is the most convenient to fly into when visiting the properties of Costa Rican Rentals?

Daniel Oduber International Airport, Liberia (Airport Code: LIR). Our villas are approximately 30-minutes away from Liberia Airport.

You can rent a car from the airport (most of the major car rental companies are in Liberia) and we will provide you with driving directions, or prior to your arrival, we can arrange to have someone pick you up and bring you to the villas (for an additional charge).

You can also fly into San Jose International Airport (Airport Code: SJO), which is a four-hour drive away. You can rent a car from here and drive to the villas, take a charter flight from San Jose to Liberia or we can arrange for you to be picked up. Transfers from San Jose to the villa typically cost on average around $175-$200, one-way.

Which airlines fly direct to Liberia?

Delta Airlines has direct, non-stop flights from Atlanta, Los Angeles and New York (JFK) to Liberia International Airport (LIR). Continental Airlines flies direct from Houston and Newark to Liberia. American Airlines also provides direct service from Miami and Dallas to Liberia. US Airways provides a direct flight from Charlotte, North Carolina, to Liberia on Saturdays. There are also several charter flights which fly to Liberia.

What documents do I need in order to visit Costa Rica?

All visitors to Costa Rica must possess a passport valid for at least three months from the date of arrival (including babies and young children).

We advise you to bring a photocopy of your passport as well (in case you lose your original).

What currency is accepted in Costa Rica?

Both US Dollars and Costa Rican Colones are generally accepted at most establishments.

Can I get money from a local ATM?
Yes, there is an ATM Machine in Coco (only 10-minutes away).

What is the closest town to the villas?

Coco is a charming Costa Rican fishing village that is just a short 10-minute drive from the villas. In Coco you will find restaurants, bars, nightlife, a grocery store, casino and shopping.

What is Playa Ocotal beach like?

Playa Ocotal beach is a mixture, white and black sand beach.  The waters are generally clear and relatively calm offering a great environment for swimming and snorkeling.  Parts of the beach and waters have rock formations while other areas consist only of smooth sand.

How far is Arenal Volcano from the villas?

Arenal Volcano is approximately a four-hour drive from the villas. You can take a day trip to the volcano, or we recommend flying into San Jose a day or two early and go the Arenal from San Jose (about a two and a half hour drive). Then from the volcano come to the villa and fly out of Liberia for your return trip home. Costa Rican Rentals can arrange all your accommodations for this outing from plane tickets, to transfer to volcano, hotel stay at Arenal and transfer to the villa.

What does an all-inclusive plan include?

Our all-inclusive plans offer three mouth-watering meals per day prepared by our on-site expert chef, a full open bar, daily maid and laundry service, and a full time bartender / pool-boy.

What about gratuities for the staff?

Tips are appropriate for the staff at the end of your stay (typically guests tip the staff on their last morning at breakfast). The amount of the tips can be reviewed with you by our property manager or assistant manager at some point prior to your departure.

Do you have cribs and highchairs at the villas?

Yes, we do. Please let us know in advance and we will have it set up and waiting for you.

Are there medical facilities nearby?

Yes. There is a pharmacy in Coco (10-minutes away), a medical clinic in the town of Sardinal (10-minutes away) and a hospital in Liberia (about 25-minutes away).
